Nurses United meets with National Nurses United

Nurses United DC meets National Nurses United

On Tuesday April 6, 2010 National Nurses United visited our Silver Spring office at our invitation. Four of their representatives updated us about their new organization and express solidarity with Nurses United of the National Capital Region. In late 2009 the California Nurses Association, United American Nurses, and Massachusetts Nurses Association, joined forces to create National Nurses United with the mutual goal of being a strong and unified force in organizing RNs. (For more information, see http://www.nationalnursesunited.org )

They shared stories of struggles currently being fought by nurses around the country, including a strike at Temple Hospital that started on March 27. (For more information, see http://templewatch.org ).

It was useful to hear their perspective. They are interested in our affiliation. We will continue to talk to them and learn more about their organization. Should the possibility of affiliation seem like a good idea, it is a choice we would all make together.
